Save Money and Time by Covering What’s Cooking in the Microwave For Better Cooking
The best gadget when microwave cooking aside from the microwave safe plastic cooking dishes, is a silicone lid.
This lid will keep in precious moisture and make the process of cooking even faster and better. One day a houseguest was preparing oatmeal in my microwave.
Using a ceramic dish, uncovered, the oatmeal many minutes later was still uncooked, had shrunk and she kept having to get more water. I mentioned a faster way.
We swapped the ceramic dish for deep plastic microwave dish, (because the oatmeal expands) added a bit more water to replace the lost moisture, a little spices (does not improve cooking, but just for better taste), popped on the silicone lid upside down to vent the steam, pressed the button and in 5 minutes, perfectly cooked, fluffy and moist oatmeal!
